The Acai (ah-sah-ee) berry is long regarded as a superfood for its antioxidant and energising properties. It is also well-loved for its delicious fruity red wine flavour with chocolate overtones. Sounds yummy already?
Acai bowls are starting to get really popular here in Singapore but still remains rather price-y at roughly $9-$12 a bowl. You can actually have this delicious blended fruit at any time of the day in the comfort of your own home for less than $2 a bowl! Here’s sharing a simple DIY Acai fruit bowl that you can customise with your favourite fruit toppings.
All you’ll need is a frozen Acai superfruit pack, some apple, orange or coconut juice, and some chopped fruit for toppings!
Start by breaking up the frozen Acai mixture into a blender.
Add just a splash of your favourite fruit juice. (We used coconut and apple together with some coconut pulp)
Then blend until you get a smoothie-like consistency.
Chop some fruits for the topping. Be creative and use any kind you like!
Once ready, pour into a bowl, top your acai blend with fresh fruit and you’re ready to tuck in! We used pineapples, strawberries, grapes, coconut pulp and crushed granola for some crunch.
