Travel: Montigo Resort Nongsa (Batam, Indonesia)

In Singapore, life is so fast-paced we often need to take off for a breather once in awhile. Luckily, we’re pretty well-connected to any country in the world.

But for those of us who just want a quick getaway to recharge for a few days, Montigo Resorts Nongsa is just a convenient 30-40min ferry ride away.

Think long, languid afternoons by the pool with delicious apple cinnamon mojitos. And if you’re there off-peak season, you pretty much have the whole place to yourself.

But the draw really is the 2-4 bedroom villas. Apart from our meals, we pretty much didn’t want (or have) to leave our room. We booked a 2-bedroom sea front villa for roughly $500-$600 a night and it was huge. Honestly, the place could comfortably house 6-7 people and would be perfect for group vacations. Sean and I barely occupied any space at all. But it still felt great to have a pool and a great view of the sea in the privacy of our room.

The grounds are well-maintained and you can get around by buggy or pretty much walk everywhere. Discovered this beautiful vintage baby blue Volkswagen on the way to the cafe. How adorable!

The villa came with a gorgeous view of the sea and our very own infinity pool which was the most perfect way to watch the sun set.

We just spent all day lying on the daybeds listening to music, reading and swimming. Perfect way to unwind over 2-3 days. Isn’t it great to just do absolutely nothing on vacation sometimes?

So, if you’re looking for a quick fix to get some time away from the bustle of the city, Montigo is a pretty good and affordable bet. Have fun!
